Everyone should know first aid procedures since immediate care may significantly minimize the severity of burn. Remove the heat source first, then seek for associated injuries and remove the non-sticking clothes.
If the person's garment catches fire, do not attempt to remove the burned clothing stuck to the flesh; instead, put out the flames using whatever means necessary. Allow the flames to go out. Lay him down fast on the ground and securely wrap him in any heavy material. Smother the flame by rolling the victim gently or patting the blanket.
Cold the burn as quickly as possible with cold, clean water. Cool water relieves pain, eliminates heat, and reduces the temperature of the wounded tissue. This avoids additional skin damage. Cooling might be helpful for 30 to 60 minutes after an accident.
The patient must be kept warm at all times. Cool for no more than 5 minutes in severe burns, particularly in newborns and children. Wrap the wound with a clean cloth and transport the patient to a hospital for treatment.
Allow the face to breathe. To eliminate all chemical residues from chemical burns, bathe the afflicted area with cold water for 10 - 15 minutes. Remove any contaminated garments at the same time. The patient should be sent to the nearest hospital as soon as possible.
