Dr. Anup Dhir specialises in cosmetic & aesthetic surgery of the face and body. He attended Govt. Medical College, Patiala as an undergraduate and received his medical degree from Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab, India.
Dr. Dhir did his postgraduate residency surgical training at Government Medical College & Rajendra Hospital Patiala leading to M.S. and M.Ch. (Plastic Surgery). He did a clinical fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital, Bombay. He has done a fellowship in maxillo facial surgery from Ludiwigs-Maximilians University Munich, Germany. He has also worked as a British Association of Plastic surgeons sponsored trainee at Plastic, Aesthetic, Hand & Burn Surgery units at Newcastle General Hospital & Royal Victoria Infirmary,Newcastle upon Tyne, UK and Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, UK.
On his return to India, he started his own practice in New Delhi and joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, at its inception in 1995, in the capacity of senior consultant plastic and cosmetic surgeon. Inderprastha Apollo Hospital is the First corporate hospital in India to be Accredited by Joint Commission International.
Dr. Dhir has a special interest in cosmetic / aesthetic surgery of face and body. He is one of the pioneers in the world for fat grafting, ADRC (adipose-derived regenerative cell) enriched fat grafting for facial rejuvenation, scars and breast augmentation. He travels extensively both in India and abroad to keep up to date with new developments in this field with a commitment for constant self improvement. He is the first plastic surgeon in India, to be accepted as an international active member of American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He practices with honesty and integrity and makes patient experience and satisfaction his first priority. He works in partnership with the patient to ensure the patient understands the expectations from the surgery.
Dr. Dhir has a special interest in management of acute and chronic burns for which he has been trained in the burn units of Queen Victoria Hospital,East Grinstead,Sussex UK and Newcastle General Hospital Newcastle upon Tyne UK. He practices and promotes early excision and skin grafting of burns. He also manages post burns scarring and contractures by latest techniques like fat grafting and lasers, besides traditional surgery.
He also has a special interest in female genital surgery & management of impotence by penile implants & he is the founder director of alpha one andrology group, which is a multi speciality group for the management of impotence & male sexual dysfunction. He has attended Oxford school of sexual medicine at Budapest Hungary in October 2013 & is always in forefront for introducing new treatments for male & female sexual dysfunction. He is an active member of ISSM [International society of sexual medicine] and SASSM [SOUTH ASIAN SOCIETY FOR SEXUAL MEDICINE] He has recently introduced shockwave therapy, a new treatment for impotence at his centre in New Delhi. His practice philosophy is to enable his patients to achieve the full benefit of cosmetic & plastic surgery, by combining his surgical talent with the patients motivation and desire for self enhancement. Dr Anup Dhir has been awarded the Fellowship of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM) after passing the qualification examination of the Multidisciplinary Joint Committee on Sexual Medicine (MJCSM). He is one of the very few physicians in the India who are trained & qualified sexual medicine specialists.
His practice philosophy is to enable his patients to achieve the full benefit of cosmetic, reconstructive plastic surgery, and andrology/sexology by combining his surgical talent with the patient’s motivation and desire for self-enhancement. He was the President of the Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons for the year 2016-2017. He is the Convener of the Healthcare division of the American Society of Quality in India.
